An introduction to this blog…

I’ve lived away from making a very short trip to Bury FC’s Gigg Lane for almost a decade now. At times, this has meant going seasons without taking in a home match to the point where some away grounds in recent times like the Kassam Stadium and Kenilworth Road have felt much more familiar. However, with the ever-increasing presence on the internet and social media of even clubs like Bury, having access to at least extended highlights of matches is now easier than ever. There has been a particular drive from the U18s side of the club to raise awareness of their successes and assets if you take that stance.

I have found myself more and more interested in tactics, shapes in and out of possession, individual players’ strengths, weaknesses and tendencies in recent years and thought that this blog would be a good way to get that across to a wider audience than just on an unofficial supporters’ forum. However, I also recognise that a blog on just why Zeli Ismail’s ability to dribble with his left foot whilst he is predominately right footed in other situations is unlikely to hold the interest of many people, so I will also sometimes analyse other matches I get to watch from Arsenal to Biggleswade United and also trends and topics of interest in the world of a football as a whole, such as whether the current offside rule is sufficient, the controversies over the Elite Player Performance Plan in English football and the expanded World Cup from 2026.

I hope you’ll enjoy at least some of the content on offer.gigg-lane-43107-155192
